Muddy Boots Publishing was founded by artist and illustrator Daren Mason, with a simple goal of providing learning and laughter. Daren explains “I’ve always loved history and archeology, it shows how weird, wonderful, and totally crackers the human race is, and has always been.”
 
Our books focus on the visual. There are many amazing resources out there for children to read and learn about history, but not everyone enjoys pages and pages of text. Muddy Boots allows the pictures to do the majority of the talking with minimum amount of text. Daren adds "As a child I loved buying my weekly Beano comic, it was visual and very funny. It wasn’t until years later, in my 20s, whilst at Art College I found out I was dyslexic . It makes sense why I was always, and still am, drawn to imagery.”
 
To discover amazing treasures of the past, archaeologists have to be out in the field, getting their boots muddy. Our aim is encourage and inspire children of all ages to go and experience the wondrous history our world holds, and the best way to do that is to 'Muddy your Boots.'
